The 13th Damme Day:

"In Hell" (2003)

This film is where Van Damme shines as an actor. We've always known him as an international action star, but this is where he shows us what else he can do.

I thought he was fantastic in this film. Sure, he punches and kicks throughout, but when he's not doing that, he's actually giving a grand performance as an American businessman serving hard time in a Russian prison after killing the criminal who raped and murdered his wife while they were overseas for work.

The warden of this vile prison makes the inmates fight each other to the death for his entertainment and profit. Very cool film.

You see Van Damme's character go through a metamorphosis throughout this film.

A naive green prisoner enters, and a hardened killer exits. I can't recommend this one enough.

On a scale of 1-10, I give it an 8.
