The 21st Damme day:
"Black Eagle" (1988)
Kosugi was the star, playing an American spy sent to Malta to try and retrieve a super weapon that went down in the Mediterranean in a crashed jet. JCVD plays a Russian henchman, sort of like the super henchmen on the James Bond films like Jaws, Oddjob, etc.
This was in the 80s when JCVD's movie career was just taking off. It features all of his classic flashy martial arts moves, including his signature split, which he uses in a couple of different fights when he goes up against Kosugi.
His movements are over exaggerated, and his acting has a long way to go, but he looked sensational, and it was a lot of fun watching him in this.
Not the best movie, but a good start for JCVD. I'll give this one a 3 out of 10, but it's one I've watched at least a dozen times.
Give it a watch and let me know what you think about it.
I'll catch you on my next Damme review!
