The 9th Damme Movie...
"Desert Heat" (1999)
This movie is about a man (JCVD), who is drunk and riding an Indian motorcycle in the desert. He is attacked by a few redneck cowboys who beat him up, shoot him, leave him for dead, and steal his motorcycle.
He is found and nursed back to health by someone who may be a spirit (Danny Trejo). JCVD sets out on a quest of vengeance and to get his motorcycle back.
The movie stars some famous actors like Pat Morita (Karate Kid), Vincent Schiavelli (Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Jamie Pressly (My Name's Earl), Larry Drake (Dr. Giggles), and more.
To me, this is one of JCVD's weaker movies. It has some JCVD martial arts action, but mostly gun play. The movie seemed very low budget and the script wasn't that good at all. I felt like the acting was bad throughout, even for the famous actors I mentioned. Their roles in this film seemed like a waste of talent.
Now, with all of that said... I still enjoyed the movie, it's just not one of my favorite JCVD outings and I felt that it could have been much better. What's really a shame is that it was directed by John G. Avildsen, the director of fantastic films like "Rocky" and "The Karate Kid".
I'm going to rate this Damme film a 2 out of 10. It's not unwatchable, but it's not good either. Just my humble opinion.
You may love it. Check it out and tell me what you think.
Until my next Damme review...
